What is this Wonderful Place?

Welcome to Elliott Blog! If you’re here, and it’s not an accident that you’re here, and you intend on sticking around for a while to read what I have to say, then chances are you’re a little obsessed with Japan.  OK, maybe you’re not quite obsessed with Japan, but you probably like Japan and a lot of what comes with it, like TV (dramas, anime, movies, variety shows), Japanese Fashion, Japanese games, Japanese food, Japanese Art, and lets not forget the most important one of all: JAPANESE LANGUAGE.

If you’re interested in any of these things, this is the place for you. If you’re anything like me, then three hours Japanese class each week isn’t quite enough to satisfy, and you need MUCH MUCH more. Well, I’ll help you get more. I’ll post tricks and tips I’ve learned along the way, and I’ll give advice as best as I can. I’ll teach what I know, and I’ll be glad to hear your input as well.

If you want me to write about something that I haven’t written about, just post it as a comment on this page, I promise I’ll read it and do my best to write something cool about whatever it is. You can also post general feedback here on this page, I’m itching to know what you think of my stuff.

I’m here to learn as much as anyone else out there scouring the internet for Japanese brain food.  I wonder, can I satisfy your hunger?

I don’t want to talk too much about myself because that’s boring, but for those of you who are still reading, I think you deserve a little something to go on.  As of right now, I have a very unofficial background in Japanese Language. I was majoring in it at a University, but when I decided to take a break from school to work, I had no choice but continue my studies on my own. In a lot of ways, this has been very good for me, because I was able to pursue Japanese at my own pace: Relentlessly. You can probably already tell by reading this much, but I love Japanese culture and Language. NO, I’m not obsessed with anime, or dramas, although I like those things. I just love the language learning process and I love Japanese culture. I obviously don’t love everything about Japanese culture, but I love enough of it to want to make a whole blog about it.

SO, I don’t have a degree in Japanese, at least not yet anyway. I have recently passed N2 and I’m currently in the beginning phases of preparing for N1. I’m not an official Japanese Language teacher at a school or anything, but I am a private tutor, and believe it or not I actually have a lot of experience teaching martial arts, so I like to think I kind of know what I’m doing. If you don’t believe me when I say it here, read some of my explanations of Japanese Language or how to learn Japanese, I bet you’ll find at least a little bit that you’ll like.

A few random facts about me: I live in Chicago. My dream is to study abroad in Japan. I’m single (at least right now). I love macaroni and cheese, even though most Japanese people hate it (that’s how you know I’m American). I listen to techno whenever I’m blogging. I think nothing is more beautiful than a brightly lit city scape (can you tell from the theme of my blog?), besides of course, a really beautiful woman. I’m not a “city-scape otaku” or anything like that.

Anyway, hope to see you around!

P.S. : If you’re new (didn’t read my blog before I joined wordpress) you can read my old posts to get caught up at http://nihontekinaseikatsu.blogspot.com.
